Answer learner questions
Answer the questions learners ask on a class’s Q&A, in the class itself or from one inbox for all your classes. Answers are visible to everyone in the class.
- 1
Know when a question arrives
Learners ask on the Q&A tab of their class or from the lesson player. You get a web notification, also when a learner asks a follow-up, and your Dashboard shows a Questions waiting tile with an Open inbox link. Answering needs the class’s answer permission, which the Instructor role includes.
- 2
Open Q&A
Choose Q&A under Communication in the menu to see the questions of every class you teach, or open a class and go to its Q&A tab. In the inbox each question names its class; select the name to open that class’s Q&A.
- 3
Focus the list
In the inbox, use the status filter to switch between Waiting for an answer, Answered and All questions, and the class filter to see one class. On a class’s Q&A tab, Waiting for an answer shows only the questions still to answer.
- 4
Post your answer
Select Answer under the question, type in Write an answer and choose Post Answer. You see Answer posted. Your answer is highlighted and marked Teacher, and the question moves to Answered.
- 5
Answer a follow-up
When the learner asks a follow-up, it appears under your answer marked Follow-up, and the question waits for an answer again. Answer it the same way.
- 6
Edit or remove an answer
Open the menu on your answer. Edit Answer lets you change the text and Save Answer. Delete Answer removes it; when no answer is left, the question goes back to Waiting for an answer.
- 7
Remove an unsuitable question
If a question is off-topic or inappropriate, open the menu on it and choose Delete Question. After you confirm, it is removed from the class’s Q&A with all its answers, for everyone.
